| Name: Wesley Edward Barclay Meaning: The male name 'Wesley' is of Old English origin, and its meaning, fittingly enough, is "western meadow." Evolutionary Anomaly Class: Biological Imperviousness - the power of skin that cannot be penetrated by any solid object in existence, or bruised or burned. Wesley's skin can be broken, but only just the surface - it is as if he has an impenetrable barrier between the dermis layers of skin and the muscle beneath. He appears to have at least some immunity to the kinetic effects of various weapons, as well - bullets, even shotgun blasts, do not knock him off his feet. He cannot regenerate, nor does he have any degree of invulnerability - a crowbar to the chest might not knock him off his feet, but a strike to the back of his head would knock him unconscious. |

| Wesley Barclay looks like your typical square-jawed jock, and in many ways, he is one. He's very physical in nature, enjoying many types of extracurricular hobbies, foremost among them hiking and mountain climbing, pursuits he started from a young age in the Santa Catalina mountains where he grew up. But he's got a deeper side, too - he's a big astronomy and sci-fi buff and avid reader, enjoying the work of writers from Marion Zimmer Bradley to George R.R. Martin. He's an admitted comic book geek, collecting issues of The Invisibles, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and the indie comic series 9th Wonders!. Wes is a laid-back, easygoing individual by nature, but in combat situations he becomes a very different person. Ruthless and methodical, Wes in a fight fights to win, and if that means he has to use lethal force, so be it. He's tactical, capable of devising strategies to put him on an even footing with individuals with greater firepower (or just plain greater power). He is capable of adapting to situations and does not lose his cool easily. On the other hand, he can be single-minded sometimes, focusing on the mission at hand to the exclusion of everything else. He believes in 'eye-for-an-eye' justice, and does not take lightly to being sucker-punched or betrayed. His sense of chivalry can also be considered a weakness, as Wes does not hit girls. Ever. Even when they're dangerous, powerful ones like Elle Bishop or Jessica Sanders. |
